Infection Control
Governance and systems for infection prevention, control and surveillance
Strathalbyn Podiatry’s aim is to minimise infections in consumers and the workforce with the support of the governance systems for effective infection prevention and control.
A high standard of infection control is paramount to prevent the transmission of disease-producing micro-organisms such as bacteria, viruses and fungi from one patient to another patient, from care provider to patient, and from patient to care provider or other practice staff. In addition, it is necessary that the endogenous spread of infection also be prevented by giving attention to the limitation of the spread of pathogens in the same patients.
It is always our intention that patients will be provided with care in an environment committed to the prevention of cross infection. As such Strathalbyn Podiatry adopts a risk management approach and complies with the following documents:
APodC Infection Prevention and Control Guidelines
The Australia Guidelines for the Prevention and Control of Infections in Health care by the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) 2019
The AS/NZS 4815:2006 Office-based health care facilities- Reprocessing of reusable medical and surgical instruments and equipment, and maintenance of the associated environment
Strathalbyn Podiatry adheres to all State and Federal Guidelines regarding the COVID-19 pandemic.
